I became interested in how photographs could alter the perception of solidity in objects. Natural elements that could be thought of as immaterial – fog, reflections, water, and light – compete with the material – the density and weight of concrete, glass, and steel. Clouds appear to travel through bridge pylons; steel girders skim across the surface of water. In this work I try to reframe the way we look at the environment in order to reveal new secrets, juxtapositions, or possibilities.
